The development of gastric cancer (GC) is closely related to chronic inflammation caused by Helicobacter pylori infection, and herpes virus entry mediator (HVEM) is a receptor expressed on the surface of leukocytes that mediates potent inflammatory responses in animal models. However, the role of HVEM in human GC has not been studied. Previously, we showed that the interaction of HVEM on human leukocytes with its ligand LIGHT induces intracellular calcium mobilization, which results in inflammatory responses including induction of proinflammatory cytokine production and anti-bacterial activities. In this study, we report that leukocytes from GC patients express lower levels of membrane HVEM (mHVEM) and have lower LIGHT-induced bactericidal activities than those from healthy controls (HC). In contrast, levels of soluble HVEM (sHVEM) in the sera of GC patients were significantly higher than in those of HC. We found that monocyte membrane-bound HVEM is released into the medium when cells are activated by proinflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-8, which are elevated in the sera of GC patients. mHVEM level dropped in parallel with the release of sHVEM, and release was completely blocked by the metalloprotease inhibitor, GM6001. We also found that the low level of mHVEM on GC patient leukocytes was correlated with low LIGHT-induced bactericidal activities against H. pylori and S. aureus and production of reactive oxygen species. Our results indicate that mHVEM on leukocytes and sHVEM in sera may contribute to the development and/or progression of GC. 相似文献

Two‐photon microscopy (TPM) has become an indispensable tool in the study of biology and medicine due to the capability of this method for molecular imaging deep inside intact tissues. For the maximum utilization of TPM, a variety of two‐photon (TP) probes for specific applications are needed. In this article, we report a small‐molecule TP probe (ANO1) for nitric oxide (NO) that shows a rapid and specific NO response, a 68‐fold fluorescence enhancement in response to NO, and a maximum TP‐action cross‐section of 170 GM (GM: 10?50 cm4 photon?1) upon reaction with excess NO. This probe can be easily loaded into cells and tissues and can real‐time monitor NO in living tissues at 100–180 μm depth for longer than 1200 s through the use of TPM, with minimum interference from other biologically relevant species. 相似文献

In this paper, we have reported the anti‐corrosion performance of ceria / poly (indole‐co‐pyrrole) (Ce/(poly(In‐co‐Py)) bilayer coating on low nickel stainless steel (LN SS). Electrochemical polymerization of (poly (In‐co‐Py)) was achieved on ceria‐coated LN SS (CeO2/LN SS) in acetonitrile medium containing LiClO4 (ACN‐LiClO4) by cyclic voltammetric technique. The coatings were characterized by analytical techniques like Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive analysis of X‐ray, respectively. The mechanical behavior of the coatings was studied using peel test, hardness and wear resistance tests. The corrosion defensive performance of this bilayer coating on LN SS was investigated using electrochemical techniques such as potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in 0.5 M H2SO4. These results show that the bilayer coating on LN SS lowered the permeability of corrosive ions present in the acidic medium and thus acts as a barrier against the attack of corrosive environment. Recently, ozone concentrations have increased dramatically as a result of vehicle usage in metropolitan areas. Ozone precursors are composed of hydrocarbons of organic compounds. Because hydrocarbons are indicative of ozone formation, they need to be monitored in ambient air. Since ozone precursor are present at very low levels (from ppb to ppt) in ambient air, they are difficult to analyze accurately. This study investigates ozone precursors in ambient air. The main purpose of this study is to compare analytical methods for the measurement of ozone precursors in atmosphere. Two measurement methods were evaluated using canister (Silco-canister) and adsorbent (300-mg Carbopack B+150-mg Carbosieve SIII) tube. Differences in measurements for total ozone precursor emissions were 54.1% between the adsorption tube and canister-GC/MS, 51.1% between adsorption tube and canister-GC/FID, and 16.3% between canister-GC/MS and canister-GC/FID. 相似文献
